refund policy

The Sydney College of Divinity has established its Refund Policy in line with Section 28 of the ESOS Act 2000. This policy must be provided to all prospective and enrolling international students before they make any tuition payments. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and any changes are applied from January 1st each year.

International students are required to pay their full tuition fees upfront unless specific written arrangements have been made. They must also maintain satisfactory academic progress and complete their course within the expected timeframe, including taking at least one unit in each compulsory study period that is not delivered via distance or online learning.

Refund if a Student defaults

Students may withdraw from a unit or course at any point during a semester but should be aware of the implications.

Withdrawal without academic penalty is allowed if the Registrar receives written notice by 4:00 pm on the Census Date for the relevant unit. In such cases, the tuition fee will be fully refunded.

If a student withdraws after the Census Date, a Fail grade will be recorded, and tuition fees will not be refunded. However, in exceptional circumstances, the student may submit a written request to the Registrar detailing the situation, which may result in a full or partial refund.

A written request for withdrawal due to exceptional circumstances may be considered for a full or partial refund of fees, provided the student submits appropriate documentary evidence to support their claim. Exceptional circumstances may include:

  • Inability to obtain a student visa
  • Illness or disability
  • Failure to meet English language requirements for admission
  • Death of the student or a close family member (such as a parent, sibling, spouse, or child).

Payment of Refund

The refund owed will be paid within four weeks after the default day. The payment will be made in the same currency as the fees were originally paid.
